Nature's Embrace

DISCOVERING THE EVER PRESENT SOURCE OF LOVE IN NATURE'S EMBRACE

About Nature's Embrace

Nature's Embrace provides a community for women to get outside together, slow down, unplug, have fun, share meals, laughter, and perhaps tears, learn new skills, and connect to our strongest selves, our True Nature,  each other, and our natural world. Through our shared experience, we strive to live a more joyous, generous, and compassionate life.

About Your Host

My passion is to connect people to Outer and Inner Nature.  Ever since I can remember these two things have naturally gone together.  As a little girl, I would find big boulders to sit on, feel their protective, wise energy, and just sit with my feelings until they were transformed. I have always been awed by and found a deep sense of divinity, joy, and connection in the natural world.

In the turmoil of our everyday lives, there is always some aspect of Nature, not so far away, that keeps its peaceful essence. We can learn to find that space within ourselves while opening up to the nurturing embrace of Nature. Resting in the beauty of nature, that fountain of joy and gratitude within us naturally arises. Sharing this experience with a collaborative group makes it all the more fun and meaningful!    .

I have been a NOLS Wilderness First Responder since 2013, which is to say I am trained in aspects of backcountry medical issues. I also worked two years on a rural community ambulance service.Sharing my love for and knowledge of our natural world brings me much joy! Over 30 years ago I began spending solo time in wilderness, initially under the guidance of John P. Milton of The Way of Nature.  Over the past many years, I have helped to take groups of people out into wilderness areas and witnessed the magic that happens between people and within people when they spend time in the crucible of nature’s beauty. Recently I have facilitated outdoor trips/retreats for Wilderness Dharma Movement,  and Colorado State University. Years back I instructed semester field courses for School for Field Studies, and Round River Conservation, and in between lies years of adventuring in the backcountry with my family and friends. Currently, I am an instructor at a community college and teach Colorado Wildlife, so I love looking for tracks and other wildlife signs whenever I step outdoors.

Much of my life’s work has been based around nature conservation for which I have always had a deep passion.  It is my hope that as we make a stronger connection with ourselves and the Earth, we will become more compassionate, loving people who appreciate and take care of each other and Mother Nature.
My personal goal is to increase the time I spend in gratitude and joy. Thus, spending time with you in gorgeous landscapes fits right in!

Warmly,

Susan

Participants must be healthy and capable of walking in high altitudes for mountain excursions. Options to have your equipment packed in exist for an additional fee.

What Makes Nature's Embrace Unique?

Nature Embrace's gatherings are tailored to each group - from food to activities.  That means though there are times for scheduled activities, each gathering is unique! Everyone has valuable contributions to our gathering and has their own way of connecting to nature and Self.  As such,  you are encouraged to share your passions and talents (art, yoga, music, your favorite way to be in nature, etc.)  with your fellow campmates.

Our events are meant to be a combination of fun out with 'the girls" ,  a time to relax and unplug, a retreat, a great way to experience and hike beautiful places, and. a chance to commune with yourself, each other, and Nature.
